The ultimate comfort type of breakfast..
Thick slices of bread, soaked in a mixture of beaten eggs with milk and cinnamon, toasted in a frying pan, and served with butter or honey syrup,this has to be one of the favorite, and most indulgent, breakfast dishes. You can also serve it with a variety of fruits like bananas, strawberries,blueberries etc. I happened to have some fresh guavas so I thought why not include them on the french toast. Quite a weird combination,its true as many told me they never had it with guavas.But honestly it was very delicious. The guavas have been chilled for a couple of hours in the fridge. And the toasts were warm and very succulent.Both combined,it was as if having a dessert at breakfast time. 😀
Pain perdue/ French toasts are very easy to make.For best results I soaked mine overnight as the bread becomes so moist with a depth of flavours. You can also add vanilla extract to the milk mixture to enrich its taste but then its sweet enough with the cinnamon. I love having them with fruits rather than syrup. But still, it all depends on you. You can tweak it your ways while making it. Like some people use brioche bread rather than normal toast bread. The good thing about french toast is that you can have any fruits with them. Even whipped cream or maybe ice cream. You can really play with it as if.And the result will always be yummy! Sounds like a magic dish,right?
