A taste of Summer – Watermelon Slush

image

Who doesn’t love Summer?

I guess we all do love a hot summer day with the perfect tan. Summer is in full swing here in Mauritius and the heat is getting almost unbearable really. So it is very important to stay hydrated all day long because we should not forget that our body is made up of 70% of water content. There is only two main seasons here in Mauritius ; Summer and Winter. Summer happens to start mid October to roughly the end of May.And December being the peak month really. December is always such a  month to remember with holidays ahead and also great tropical fruits available like the Lychees , Watermelons and gorgeous ripe Mangoes . I absolutely love Summer even if most of the time I am complaining about the heat.

Watermelon is a very rich source of  vitamins and minerals as well as potassium and is devoid of any amount of fats and calories. Watermelon has a neutral flavour because of its 95% composition of water. Therefore it is ideally considered as the best fruit to beat the scorching heat during Summer. Also it seems to be on display everywhere I am going lately. So I guess another good reason as to why not use it.

Slurrrpppp! The most refreshing taste of Summer at your hands in just one sip! I fell in love with this drink really and it came out so good. The taste of lime with mint and the sweetness of the watermelon all combined together. Hmmm so refreshing really and served chilled is almost like heaven. It really cools down the thirst and heat. Besides one glass of this magic is honestly not enough. No wonder it is considered to be the world’s healthiest fruit.

Watermelon is basically very cleansing, alkalinizing, diuretic and mineralizing. It is very effective in promoting intestinal elimination, keeping the body free from toxic wastes. One small tip to having them, which I am so fond of, is to cut them into cubes and froze them. i simply love the idea of frozen fruits. So juicy and cooling.

Is there any favourite of yours to have during Summer? Other than Iced Tea I guess this one as well makes the perfect Summer drink. Please do not hesitate to share your Summer favourites on here with me.

Much love!
